The third installment in this amazing racing series is nothing
short of a miracle for all of us hardcore racing fanatics out there.
Even though I am not a huge fan of any racing that doesn't go in a
straight line, I find this game to be the most in depth racing title on
the market today.
Gameplay
Gameplay is awesome. Once I picked up the control, I couldn't
put it down for hours, and hours, and hours. There are HUNDREDS of cars,
and factor in all the things you can add on and adjust there are
literally THOUSANDS of combinations for your car.
The physics in the game were also the most realistic of
any racing game ever. you can drift around turns, and bump steer your
car. I also like the fact that you can heat up your tires via burnout or
other means.
I had a couple of problems with the game, first off, I
wish they would of had some old Chevy Novas, or Camaros, or any older
American cars. And another was that even though there were thousands of
wheels, I wish they would of gotten Weld, or American Racing to sign on
for wheels. And maybe have some more Engine hop ups like camshafts,
compression, heads, and maybe factor in some nitrous systems for the
cars.
Graphics
The graphics in this game
were nothing short of stunning for a racing game. The real-time renders
looked like FMV (Full Motion Video). In fact, go out and buy this game,
or rent it. I think its only 20 bucks now anyway. I cant explain all its
splendor to you.
Sound
Sound is really lacking in
this game. But what was the last racing racing game with good sound
anyway?
Longevity
Man, this is a tough
one. Giving the fact that you can get money a little to easily, it sort
of gets momentous after a while.
Overall
Overall
I would say this game was well worth the buy. It led to numerous hours of
racing with buddies, and little friendly bets. So my recommendation is to
sell one of your kids off and buy a PS2, a memory card, and Gran Turismo
3.
